Tradewind are recruiting for highly experienced Adult Social Workers across the London Boroughs with Learning Disabilities experience.

Main Duties:

To take responsibility for new allocations, contacting or visiting people who require assessments or reviews either for their current services or because of safeguarding issues.

Will work to ensure that the needs of family members, carers, groups and providers of care are understood and will work with them towards ensuring that vulnerable adults receive the appropriate support which is the least restrictive option, whilst also recognising the need for intervention where necessary.

To ensure that assessments are accurate and that service users are able to self-direct the assessment process and make informed decisions.

Identify who may need close monitoring or frequent reviews and interventions to minimise and manage risk, or where best interest decisions may be required.

To ensure effective crisis intervention work by drawing on a range of local knowledge and using professional experience to make decisions that uphold autonomy whilst recognising the social work role for safe intervention.

To use legislation, guidance and reflective social work practice to ensure that key concepts and theories in social work are utilised to ensure the best possible outcomes for vulnerable adults.

To provide assistance, guidance and direction to colleagues and assist senior colleagues and managers as required.

Essential Skills & experience needed:

Good communication skills; listening, understanding, ability to express self to people from a range of backgrounds and cultures and ability to negotiate with service users, relatives and providers.
Will be expected to work in a conflict environment and within situations that they may find challenging.

Ability to make sound professional judgments.

Ability to provide excellent verbal and written reports which can be considered within high level and legal settings.

Be able to make critical decisions on behalf of the Authority which may be in conflict with the wishes of the service users and/or their families or care providers.

Ability to complete Care Act, mental capacity and best interest assessments, and also safeguarding investigations.

Experience in working with older adults with either physical or learning disabilities.

Experience using Liquid Logic IT system would be advantageous.

Job Requirements:
All applicants need to be social work qualified with a current HCPC registration. You must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role and be able to supply up to 5 years referencing. An Enhanced DBS will need to be completed or if you have one on the Update Service this can be accepted.
