A fantastic opportunity has arisen for Assistant Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) to join their team within the Surrey area.

Ensuring that the authority fulfils its obligations for managing allegations against staff and volunteers working with children in accordance with relevant procedures. Oversee cases until conclusion, maintain records and provide quarterly reports.

The responsibilities of the Assistant LADO includes:

  • To chair child protection strategy meetings regarding allegations made against staff, carers and volunteers within the Council, liaising with the police and other agencies, as necessary
  • To immediately advise the LADO and in his/her absence, the Head of Safeguarding and other senior managers, as necessary, about potentially high profile situations and significant safeguarding matters that may compromise a child's safety, including other areas of concern, policy development needs and other professional issues that should reasonably be brought to a line manager's attention
  • To manage complaints and representations in accordance with agreed Corporate and Directorate policies and procedures, undertaking any necessary investigations or associated work
  • To provide advice and guidance to employers, other agencies and voluntary organisations regarding the management of allegations against staff, carers and volunteers
  • To analyse performance management information and support the LADO to present reports to Head of Children's Safeguarding Services and other senior managers

Requirements of a Assistant LADO:

  • HCPC registered
  • 2 years recent experience
  • Must have considerable knowledge and experience in the application of relevant legislation, statutory guidance, standards and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding children
  • It is desirable for the candidate to have experience of chairing child protection conferences and knowledge of the Signs of Safety practice framework
  • Driving licence and business insurance would be beneficial
  • An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential

Salary: Up to £41.00 p/h, based on experience
