Category Manager

London

Main duties:

  • To work collaboratively with Directors and Commissioners to shape commercial opportunities, deliver financial savings and efficiency targets, whilst enabling sustainable business models
  • To be responsible for developing, leading and implementing commercial, category and SRM strategies and continuous improvement across all spend portfolios
  • Ensure all construction project procurement activities meet customer specific needs whilst following best Group Procurement practice
  • Develop supplier partner network, supplier relationship management and drive compliance to preferred supplier selection
  • Ensure that all supply partners to projects adhere and are managed to commercial agreements / contracts. They must comply with statutory regulations are QHSE compliant and meet technical industry/client expectation and/or standards
  • Engage with senior level stakeholders to ensure organisational and functional requirements are understood and incorporated into category plans
  • Ensuring a detailed understanding of the expenditure within the category, the suppliers, the products and services, the value for money and the existing supplier performance
  • Monitoring supplier and Anchor performance and seeking ways to optimise new contracts

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Thorough knowledge of one or more sub-categories of the corporate services category and markets (Other than ICT)
  • Knowledge of financial services and BPO markets as they relate to local government (Insurance, business rates, revenues and benefits enforcement)
  • Excellent project management and organisation skills
  • Good working knowledge of e-Procurement. experience of using pro-contract
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to communicate clearly with audiences up to strategic director level in local government
  • Good analytical and numerical skills, able to make sense of complex information from different data sources and synthesise these clearly and succinctly into meaningful management information and insight
  • Good ICT skills, confident in using standard productivity applications
  • Knowledge of best practice in contract management

Requirements:
Applicants must be CIPS qualified
Minimum of 4 years current experience in the same role
