Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for Support Workers for a children's residential home in Shephred's Bush.

The service is a purpose built 4 bedded home designed to accommodate and support children between the ages of 8 - 18 with Autistic Spectrum Conditions, Learning Disabilities and behaviours that challenge associated with the aforementioned conditions.

Main duties:

  • To help implement objectives, goals and targets designed to achieve the maximum awareness, independence, personal development (physical, intellectual, emotional, educational and social of each child
  • To provide support as detailed on the rota
  • To offer a high quality residential / day service to the children and young people
  • To work as part of the team
  • To fulfil and further the aims and objectives of the service in line with the Statement of Purpose (SOP)
  • To understand and respond to the specific needs of children and young people with Autism and associated Conditions
  • To protect the rights and interests of children and young people by treating each person as an individual, supporting their rights and respecting and promoting (where appropriate) their views and wishes
  • To respect the rights and dignity of children and young people while seeking to ensure that their behaviour does not harm themselves and other people
  • To help create a caring and supportive environment, which promotes the physical and emotional health, security, individuality and self-esteem of all children and young people
  • To establish and maintain the trust and confidence of children, young people service users and their parents/carers
  • To liaise with the management team, external professionals and agencies, families, parents/carers in providing a high quality service
  • To report immediately any incidents, suspicion or sign of physical, emotional, psychological and verbal abuse. Any signs or witnessing neglect or harm of a child or young person as outlined in the Whistleblowing and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures
  • To help create a caring and supportive environment which promotes the physical and emotional health, security, individuality and self - esteem of all children and young people
  • To ensure that you are informed of all relevant information to enable you to adhere to routines and patterns of work at at the service
  • To form effective working relationships with permanent employees and other casual support workers
  • To assist with the implementation of group and individual programmes, working jointly with team members providing day care to children and young people

Skills and expereinces:

  • Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting
  • Ability to communicate effectively with young people with learning disabilities
  • Ability to work shifts/ evenings/weekends/ holidays and waking nights as required
  • Must be reliable and punctual
