Tradewind Social Care has a fabulous opportunity at present for a Children's Social Worker to join a busy Looked After Children's (LAC) Team in Cambridge Council.

The main purpose of the role is to work with vulnerable young people from age 0-19. To achieve good outcomes for children looked after and to significantly reduce the gaps in outcomes between looked after children and those within the general population. This will be achieved by carrying a caseload of looked after children and those in care proceedings.

Main Duties:

To ensure the holistic needs of children looked after are met by close and creative work within the multi agency children looked after service to ensure that children's health, educational and emotional needs are met and that they remain in stable placements, enabling them to achieve good outcomes

To commission family group conferences, undertake kinship assessment and prepare special guardianship reports for children

To work with children looked after ensuring that they have clear plans for permanency via adoption, special guardianship, and permanent or long term fostering

To prepare and present qualitative verbal and written reports to meetings, reviews and panels

To participate and contribute to looked after children and children in need, child protection planning and review meetings, task groups and involvement in group work as required

Prepare statements, care plans and presenting evidence for legal proceedings

To assess risk and devise multi-agency child protection plans to ensure children's safety and rehabilitation to their families whenever possible

To undertake direct work and life-story work with children to address emotional, behavioural, contact needs and achieve permanency

Essential Skills and Experience Needed:

Carry out duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Council's Health and Safety Policy and relevant Health and Safety legislation

Ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard and compliance with the Data Protection Act and other legislation

To adhere to the Code of Conduct of the Health and Care Professions Council

Job Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years post qualifying experience working within Children's Services

All applicants must be Social Work Qualified with a valid HCPC registration

An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
