A great opportunity has arisen for a Children's Social Worker to work within the Assessment and Safeguarding team and also the Child Protection services within the Lancashire area.

You will assess the needs and wishes of clients and where appropriate, to incorporate these assessments into individual care plans and you will also provide the social work service of assessment of need, care planning and, as appropriate, child protection investigation, to prevent the separation of children from their families.

The responsibilities of a Children's Social Worker includes:

  • Take professional responsibility as directed for managing a caseload which will include individuals, children, families and carers who require support and guidance
  • Enable them to identify their needs and plan support to meet those needs using the full range of options, seeking advice and support where appropriate
  • Use assessment procedures discerningly in response to the presenting needs and to ensure that a proportionate assessment is completed in a way that enables maximum participation
  • Understand the forms of harm and their impact on people and be able to identify safeguarding concerns
  • To assess, identify levels of risk and need and deliver protective or supportive services for children with a Child Protection Plan
  • To implement Child Protection plans by working in partnership with parents and colleagues from other agencies to effect better outcome for children on the Register
  • To provide verbal and written reports to Child Protection conferences, strategy meetings, core group meetings and reviews

Requirements of a Children's Social Worker:

  • HCPC registered
  • 2 years recent experience working within Assessment and Safeguarding and CP
  • An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential

Salary: Up to £24.97 p/h, based on experience
