We have an exciting opportunity for Disability Home Improvement Service Manager to join the Community Housing Team for Greenwich Council.

Duties of Post:

  • Carrying out the full range of managerial duties in relation to the allocated staff including; development and implementation of policies and procedures; planning, allocating and monitoring of workloads, day-to-day supervision, performance management, staff development and training and to support line managers to carry out these functions with respect to their staff members.
  • To undertake employees investigations and appeals in line with RBG's policies and procedures
  • To provide effective leadership in line with the Council's Management Standards by providing a clear sense of direction, fostering a climate of dignity and respect and finding ways to ensure continuous service development and improvement
  • To have overall responsibility for the effective development and management of the range of services and functions delivered by the team
  • Responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of corporate and departmental policies and procedures relating to the functions of the team, directing and supporting managers as appropriate
  • To make recommendations to senior managers and Members as appropriate and produce reports for their consideration

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Working knowledge of problems and solutions related to the adaptation of domestic dwellings for people with physical disabilities. Awareness of tenancy and homelessness legislation and welfare benefits

Understanding the Authority's role in preventing homelessness by sustaining tenancies in the private sector and procuring properties from private sector landlords Knowledge of building construction techniques and associated regulatory requirements

Knowledge of the systems and regulations for public sector procurement, especially as they relate to the procurement of contractors for construction projects

Ability to effectively manage capital works budgets, monitor commitment and expenditure and take corrective action as appropriate

Ability to communicate effectively with vulnerable service users

Ability to deal effectively with service users complaints and work with other teams and colleagues to reach outcomes that balance the needs of the service user and the council
