Tradewind are currently recruiting for an Employment and Opportunities Coordinator, to work in the Islington area. The service provides structured, individually-tailored support to empower people aged over 18 with a history of substance use to access education, training, employment and volunteering opportunities.

The service is delivered through one-to-one casework, open drop-in sessions and a structured day programme that addresses individual issues and employment needs and gives clients the opportunity to learn to support each other.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday, 9AM - 5PM.

Due to Covid-19, this role is primarily home-based, with laptop and phone provided by the service.

In this position, you will:

  • Provide support to people in recovery from substance misuse with a specific focus on obtaining employment or training activities
  • Ensure clients are achieving ETE outcomes within a 12-week support period.
  • Work to establish and maintain good links with external agencies
  • Record accurately, up to date and useful information
  • Maintain positive working relationships with referring agencies and ETE providers, as well as networking and brokering new opportunities
  • Participate in the facilitation and delivery of clients workshops and group working sessions

To apply for this role, you must have:

  • Experience of working with venerable clients who are in recovery from substances
  • Experience of signposting clients to opportunities and educational providers
  • The ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure and manage time effectively, prioritising different areas of work according to need
  • A level of numeracy sufficient to carry out tasks
  • An ability to be self-servicing in the use of IT applications and basic keyboard skills to record activities and to send and receive emails
  • An understanding of the principles underlying a quality and customer focussed service with the proven ability to empower service users
  • Willingness to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements and work outside of office hours on occasion.
