Tradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Governance Officer for our client in Haringey.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Executive Support Team as Governance Officer and must be comfortable working on their own a lot of the time. This is a demanding role and will suit someone with a high level of resilience, strong communication skills and the ability to quickly build good working relationships with the Board members and Executive Management Team and collaborate effectively.

As Governance Officer you must be confident with a flexible attitude; high degree of integrity and professionalism, and the ability to remain composed under pressure as you will be arranging, servicing, and facilitating Board and internal governance meetings, co-ordinating papers and taking minutes. You will be required to work closely with the Chair of the Board to draft agendas/sign off minutes and arrange 121's with the ability to meet tight deadlines. A high level of proficiency is required in MS Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

  • Arranging, servicing and facilitating Board and internal governance meetings, co-ordinating papers and taking minutes;
  • Ensuring that accurate records of Board and internal governance meetings and decisions are maintained;
  • Planning the overall schedule of Board and internal governance meetings;
  • Maintaining organisational registers of Declarations of Interest and Gifts and Hospitality, as well as the organisation's statutory register;
  • Co-ordinating recruitment/selection of Resident and Independent Board Directors;
  • Working with Executive Support team colleagues to provide cover to the overall Executive Support service and to act on customer feedback and performance outcomes in order to identify ways we can improve our services

Skills and experiences:

  • Local authority experience as a Governance Officer or Personal Assistant
  • Good numeracy, literacy and communication qualifications
  • Experience of providing confidential secretarial and administrative support to senior managers
  • Experience of preparing agendas and papers, and taking accurate notes and minutes, for a variety of meetings, including confidential meetings at a senior level
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines on a range of complex tasks in a busy office environment
  • Experience of dealing confidently and effectively with colleagues at all levels of seniority, and with members of the public
  • Experience of information gathering and presenting information in spreadsheets, reports and presentations
  • Experience of leading and co-ordinating the organisation of conferences and other events
