Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Specialist Housing First Worker, to work in the Newham area based from an office in Ilford. In this role, you will support people with repeat histories of homelessness and who experience multiple disadvantages, into independent and stable accommodation, utilising the Housing First Model.

Housing First is an innovative approach based around a set of core principles which are designed to achieve optimum outcome. Housing First is about doing things differently; it requires flexibility and creativity from all agencies involved.

Core Principals:

  • People have a right to a home
  • Flexible support is provided for as long as is needed
  • Housing and support are separated
  • Individuals have choice and control
  • An active engagement approach is used
  • People are supported to identify their strengths, goals and aspirations
  • A harm reduction approach is used

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday - Friday 9AM - 5PM. This post is offered for 2 - 3 months.

Currently the role will require appointed workers to work remotely. However, after June 21st the service will be preparing for staff to return to the office based in Ilford.

To apply for this role, you must:

  • Have knowledge of the Housing First Model, and be able to demonstrate this
  • Be a highly experienced worker who has worked with rough sleepers and vulnerable adults
  • Have knowledge of lone working practices
  • Have demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have complex needs
  • Be able to work in a creative and person centred approach
  • Have knowledge of the housing and welfare benefits system

The ideal candidate will have worked in a specialist role beforehand, with clients who have experienced multiple disadvantages. Candidates with considerable years of experience as a project or floating support worker will also be considered.

Candidates will be required to complete a supporting statement in application for this role once their experience has been assessed as suitable for the position.
