Synopsis: Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for an experienced Housing Options Officer for Redbridge Council.

Main Duties:

To provide an effective, professional service which includes offering customers in housing need a full range of advice and interventions related to their housing options in the private and public secotr witht he aim of ensuring a comprensive service to prevent homelessness

To provide an effective, professional homelessness service including the assessment and invetigation of homeless approaches and applications in line with the councils statory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part 7 and relevent case law

To work with customers to develop, update the review Personalised Housing Plans for customers on behalf of the council in light of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017. Working with customers to implement these plans to ensure that homelessness is prevented or relieved through active interventions and pursuit of effective housing options

To reduce the need for provision of temporary accomodation and resulting expenditure by ensuring effective options, prevention and relief activity

To take responsibility fror the recoring or high quality, key data on homelessness for submission to the Department for Communities and Local Government ensuring key trends on homelessness, the causes and solutions are available for analysis locally and to the government to measure the impact of homelessness nationally

Where possible, use influcing and problem-solving skills to negociate with households, landlords and accomodation providers in order to ensure that accommodation remains open to those threatened with homelessness for the maximum period of time so that effective housing options casework can be undertaken

Where possible, use influening and problem-solving skills to negociate the withdrawal of the threat of homelessness and extension of the right to occupy so that homessless is averted

To develop a range o effective housing solutions for customers through the use of creative thinking and via the building of relationships with accomodation providers

Essential Skills and Experience needed:

Experiece of proving an effective advice service to members of the public

Experience of using negotiating, influency and problem-solving skills to achieve positive outcomes for customers

2 years' worth of experience

Job requirments:

Level 4: Specialist learning with the ability to undertake detailed analysis of a high level of information and knowledge in an area work or story

May be evidenced by:certicates of higher education: NVQ level 4;HND;BTEC Professional ad equivant qualifications
