Mental Health Homelessness Social Worker

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Social Worker to join Mental Health Homelessness Team within Central London.

The Joint Homelessness Team is an integrated health and social care mental health service for rough-sleepers. The Joint Assessment Service is commissioned by the housing department to provide assessments of vulnerability for people who present as homeless and appear to have a mental health need.

The responsibilities of a Social Worker includes:

  • Assessing and offering appropriate treatment and care management to clients who are not linked to Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT)
  • Increasing the capacity and competence of hostel and street-based workers by providing training, support and advice
  • Providing interventions to those people who are not able to engage with mainstream services due to the complexity and instability of their condition and housing needs
  • Working towards referral of the service user to intensive supported or transitional housing services and other types of accommodation, as well as handover to mainstream mental health services at the earliest opportunity
  • Supporting engagement in structured treatment for substance misuse

Requirements of a Social Worker:

  • HCPC registered
  • 2 years recent experience working within a Mental Health Team
  • An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential

Salary: Up to £23.84 p/h, based on experience
