A great opportunity has arisen for Personalisation Officer to join their Children's Services within North London.

To provide an effective and comprehensive direct payments and Personal budgets support function for Children's services, including all aspects of supporting direct payment and Personal Budget arrangements for disabled children, their parent/carers and disabled young people 16/17 years, in accordance with all relevant Council policies and procedures.

The responsibilities of a Personalisation Officer includes:

  • To follow up direct payment and Personal budget referrals and work in partnership with parent/carers and young people 16/17 years to carry out all necessary agreed tasks to set up direct payments/Personal Budgets in accordance with identified needs, the child's support plan and self-directed support policies, procedures and good practice
  • To ensure that direct payment and Personal budget support plans for children safeguard and promote the welfare of the child, ensuring that any concerns related to child welfare concerns are promptly identified and reported
  • To actively promote direct payments and personal budgets amongst parent/carers of disabled children and disabled young people 16/17 year, Islington Council staff and with local partner organisations, with a view to increasing the number of recipients across all eligible user groups
  • To provide comprehensive, accurate and appropriate information about Direct Payments to parent/carers and disabled young people 16/17 years, which promotes choice, control, flexibility and independence
  • To review the Direct Payments and personal budgets to ensure the assessed outcomes are being met

Requirements of a Personalisation Officer:

  • DipSw, social care or other relevant professional qualification
  • An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
  • To review the Direct Payments and personal budgets to ensure the assessed outcomes are being met
  • An understanding of the duties of a social services department in relation to disabled children
  • An understanding of the importance in recognising the different needs of disabled children and their families, disabled young adults 16/17 years and the stresses affecting their lives
  • Ability to set up and support direct payment/personal budget arrangements in accordance with unmet needs and identified outcomes within agreed policies and procedures

Salary: Up to £17.91 p/h, based on experience
