Westminster, London

Job Summary

  • Job Reference: HSTWLA2020_1594744776
  • Job Type: Permanent
  • Date Posted: 2020-07-14
  • Location: Westminster, London
  • Job Status: FullTime
  • Closing Date: 2020-09-12
  • Tradewind Social Care Recruitment

Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for experienced Support Workers, for a short break children's residential setting for children with disabilities in Westminster.

  • To contribute to the planning and delivery of a broad programme of play opportunities including sports, games, arts, crafts, activities on site and in the community.
  • To assist in providing opportunities for the children that are fun, creative and offer the children developmental experiences.
  • To act as a key worker to a child/family when necessary (time limited)

Our client is only operating for 4 weeks (3rd - 28th August) and be based at 7 different venues (we are looking for staff for 5 of those venues) They are operating with a maximum of 6 children per day, and the children will remain in their groups throughout the summer (except perhaps for some exceptional circumstances) Staff will predominantly be asked to work at the same venue for the whole 4 weeks to minimise the number of people coming into contact with each other. Each venue will be run by either myself, Hana, Michael or some of our Senior Play Workers.

We are looking for approximately 20 - 30 staff per day.

They will be operating Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm with children onsite from 9:30am - 4:30pm.

The children are aged between 5 and 18, most children will be allocated a staff member to support them on a 1:1 basis - and we are looking for your help in finding these staff.

It will be their responsibility to take care of the allocated child for the day; engage them in the activities, support them in personal care, keep them safe, and help them to have a great summer. We need staff to be proactive, energetic and responsible with experience of working with people with disabilities (preferably children/young people)

As it stands, staff are required to wear PPE (a mask and gloves) unless they are medically exempt of which we will need to see proof. We are also adhering to the social distance guidelines as much as we can, but due to the nature of our children we know that this is not always possible. If this changes at any point we will keep all staff updated.

They are inviting staff to join us for our site visits on Friday 31st July (times TBC) - this is where staff will visit the centre they are placed at, and receive a briefing for the upcoming weeks. If they are unable to make this date we would like them to attend on either Tuesday 28th July PM or Thursday 30th July PM.

Experience, skills and knowledge

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Experience of working with children and families whose children have multiple disabilities in a professional capacity - preferably a day or residential setting
