Tradewind Social Care have a brilliant opportunity for a Qualified Social Worker to join a Child Protection Team in Liverpool City Council.

The main purpose of this role is to help children and families cope with social, emotional and environmental problems. To help them retain independence and live as much of a normal life as possible in the community. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate action or treatment.

Main Duties:

To undertake Initial and Core Assessments within the required timescales in accordance with the assessment framework

To undertake the investigation of child protection referrals and to provide assessments that facilitates decision making by appropriate line managers

To accommodate children and young people and initiate care proceedings when appropriate

To formulate care plans in partnership with children and young people, their families and other providers of care and assistance based on the assessments

To produce court statements and when required, give evidence in court on behalf of the Local Authority in Family Proceedings Court and any other court within Family Division as required

To provide verbal and written reports to Child Protection conferences strategy meetings, planning meeting and reviews

To take responsibility for managing an individual caseload, having regard to the relative needs of all service users and ensuring an effective use of time and resources

To ensure that all expenditure on cases is properly authorised and recorded and that cases with financial packages are regularly monitored and reviewed

Essential skills & experience needed:

Solid experience of carrying out assessments and building professional relationships with service users

Ability to network across organisational boundaries in support of service users

Ability to engage with families and work collaboratively with partner agencies and colleagues

Ability to work with diverse ethnic groups and ensure that change is achieved for the vulnerable children and families that we work with

High level knowledge of child care legislation including the Children Act 1989, Every Child Matters, Change for Children and associated guidance and regulations

Knowledge of Child Abuse, Child Protection practice and procedures

Job Requirements:
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role

Must be Social Work qualified with a valid HCPC registration

Clear UK Driving Licence
