Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for an experienced Residential Children's Assistant Manager in Worcestershire.

Delegated responsibility from the Manager of the home for day to day management and administration, in accordance with the policies of the Department and other statutory requirements. The Assistant Manager will deputise for the Manager in his/her absence.

The Assistant Manager is accountable to the Manager of the Home.

Supervision will be provided on an assessed basis dependent on experience, ability, qualification and workload.

Main duties:

  • Provide day to day supervision to residential social workers, administrative and domestic staff employed within the home as delegated by the Manager of the home
  • Together with designated others, provide formal supervision to the above workers on an assessed basis, dependent on experience, ability, qualification and workload
  • Contribute to individual staff development by way of supervision and together with individual staff members, identify priority training needs
  • Be expected to contribute to the planning and implementation of "in house" training programmes
  • Contribute to the appraisal process for individual members of staff whom they line manage
  • When delegated by the Manager, be responsible for ensuring that rotas are set up to ensure the most effective use of staff to the benefit of smooth running of the establishment
  • Participate fully in recruitment and appointment of residential social work, manual and ancillary staff
  • Ensure that staff are familiar with the professional administrative and financial aspects of the establishment as set out in the Departmental Manual of Procedures and other County and statutory procedures and guidelines
  • Assist the Manager in the promotion and maintenance of quality child care in line with statutory requirements and County guidelines, ensuring that all staff members are familiar with and adhere to such requirements and guidelines

Qualifications and work experience:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Children's and Young People's Workforce
  • Experience of working with young people in a residential child care setting within the last five years.
  • Experience of working in a managerial or senior role for a minimum of 12 months in the last five years.
  • Knowledge of relevant child care legislation
  • Knowledge of child protection procedures
  • Knowledge of reviews of any enquiries into residential child care practice
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
  • Knowledge of theories relevant to Child Care practice
  • Knowledge of Government initiatives
