Tradewind Recruitment are currenty recruiting for five children's Senior Residential Support Workers to work across various locations in Greenwich, Thamesmead and Plaistow.

Main duties:

  • To provide day to day care of children and young people within an environment of pro-social learning that promotes positive attachments and relationships
  • To support young people in maximising their potential in a safe and caring environment
  • To achieve the highest standard of service delivery as measured by Ofsted against the Children's Homes Regulations including quality standards 2015
  • Establishing respectful, trusting relationships with young people that lay the ground for them to discuss with confidence any issue they have relating to their safety or welfare
  • Recognising when a young person is not achieving their development potential or is displaying risky or harmful behaviour and using appropriate (i.e. approved) strategies to address this (e.g. looking for signs of bullying, selfharm, drug/alcohol taking etc
  • Giving young people the opportunity to express their views and participate in decisions that affect them, as appropriate to their age and ability, and taking their wishes and feelings into accounts
  • Providing regular key work sessions to young people
  • Supporting young people to develop resilience and build mental, physical, emotional and social well-being
  • Understanding the use that young people make of new technologies to understand the implications of risks of harm and ensuring these are minimised
  • Being aware of and using appropriately, local procedures and inter-agency arrangements for safeguarding young people
  • Ensuring that young people are aware of the complaints procedure and helping them to use it effectively
  • Raising issues of poor practice with other staff, if necessary reporting this to a manager or using the Whistleblowing procedure
  • Working with young people to reduce the impact of negative peer group influences
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and provide clear and fair consequences to inappropriate behaviour

Skills and experiences:

  • NVQ Level 3 Children and the Young People's workforce
  • Residential experience wirking with chuldren and young people
  • Must be a care driver
