Tradewid Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Senior Shard Lives Worker role for our client in East London.

Our client is a not for profit organisation which runs shared lives schemes in Newham, Havering and Thurrock. Everyone who works with or is supported by the
organisation can become a member of the organisation and can stand to be elected as a member of the Board. The scheme is registered with CQC as a provider of
personal care and is currently rated ‘Outstanding’

The scheme supports vulnerable adults, including people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, physical and sensory disabilities, who require support, to share
home and family life with shared lives carers. People who are eligible for Adult social care use the scheme for long term support, or for short breaks.

They are a small team of 6 people, who work closely together, but who are all able to work independently. The scheme currently has offices in Stratford and Romford, and its expected that all staff will work across all three boroughs visiting Shared Lives carers homes.

Overall Purpose of Job
  • The Shared lives Senior Worker will support the Executive Director. They take will a lead on new shared lives initiatives and quality assurance, whilst maintaining a caseload of Shared lives arrangements.
  • They will be confident with IT and able to learn to use software packages to cover some finance tasks when required, and will support other staff to use systems such as the database etc.
  • They will take a lead on setting up training, and other opportunities for Shared Lives carers.
  • They will take a lead in ensuring paperwork across the organisation is up to date, and meets the standards required by an organisation registered ‘Outstanding’ by CQC.
  • In addition, they will carry out a role similar to a shared lives worker.
  • They will assess, support and monitor Shared Lives Carers to provide appropriate support to individuals placed with them.
  • They will assess and draw up support plans for people referred to the scheme for support and identify a good match for them.
  • They will be able to assess support provided against the national standards and offer support and advice to ensure both Shared Lives Carers and the person supported achieve good outcomes
Job Context
  • The postholder reports to Shared Lives Manager.
  • The Postholder will be working across Newham, Thurrock and Havering.
  • The Postholder will understand some of the finance processes and will be able run them temporarily in the absence of the Executive Director.
  • The postholder has line management responsibility for no staff but carries a case load of up to 20 Shared Lives Carers.
  • The postholder has no budget responsibility but will be able to enter into spot contracts of up to £50,000 per annum with local authorities
  • The postholder may be required to work evenings, weekends and occasional public holidays, in order to meet the needs of carers and the scheme.
Experience
  • Knowledge of legislation, recent practice and policy developments relating to people with social care needs, including individual budgets.
  • Knowledge of practice and procedures relating to Shared Lives Schemes
  • Knowledge and understanding of leadership skills.
  • NVQ/QCF level 4 or above in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Substantial experience of working in a positive person centred way with people with social care support needs to support them to achieve the outcomes that are important to them
  • Experience of using IT software to support business functions such as invoicing, records of payments etc
  • Experience of working in partnership with service users and carers
