Tradewind Social Care have a brilliant opportunity for a Social Worker to join a Child Protection Team in Camden Borough Council.


The main purpose of this role is to develop and support a comprehensive service for children and young people, aged 0 - 25 years old whilst managing and supervising a team of Social Workers.

Main Duties:

To role model and help others demonstrate professionalism, ensuring professional social work standards are maintained throughout area of responsibilities
To work as a part of a team to provide, co-ordinate and develop a comprehensive service for children and young people using the broad categories of services and resources available to children and families to meet identified needs
To work in a multi-disciplinary setting and establish a network of internal and external colleagues from whom to seek advice and expertise
To take a leading role in the Department's provision of a comprehensive Disabled Children's Service, which delivers a duty service, Child in Need, Child Protection, Court work, Looked After Children and Short Breaks
Plays a leading role in practice development in the team and help sustain a learning culture
To provide professional support and supervision to designated social workers in the team
At all times carrying out responsibilities and duties with due regard to legislation and to the Council's child care policies and within the framework of an integrated range of services for children and their families
At all times ensuring that services offered by the team meets the needs of the multi-racial and multi-cultural community in Camden

Essential skills & experience needed:

Solid experience of carrying out assessments and building professional relationships with service users

Ability to network across organisational boundaries in support of service users

Knowledge of Child Abuse, Child Protection practice and procedures

At least two years post qualification experience of working in a Children and Families Division and an understanding of the needs of disabled children and the impact for their families
Sound knowledge of the legislative framework relating to children, particularly the Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, Children and Families Act 2014 and all other relevant legislation
To demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the pressures faced by families with children living in socially deprived neighbourhoods, the issues faced by/needs of disadvantaged families with children
Experience of giving supervision (desirable but not essential), an ability to evidence the assessment and motivation of staff, identifying training needs

Job Requirements:
An enhanced DBS that is of satisfactory level is essential
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role

Must be Social Work qualified with a valid HCPC registration

Clear UK Driving Licence
