Tradewind Social Care have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Direct Payments Lead in East London.

Job Purpose:

  • As the strategic lead for Direct Payments you will be responsible for the overall planning and monitoring the work of the team, which enables the successful delivery of its business objectives. This includes responsibility for the effective supervision of staff to deliver high quality, person-centred services.
  • To have overall lead responsibility for the development, implementation and strategic management of Direct Payments in Hackney by creating and delivering customer focused and performance oriented services that meet the diverse needs of communities in Hackney in line with legislative requirements.
  • Overseeing a significant review of the end-to-end Direct Payments process for Adults Services, to include developing a set of recommendations with associated action plan. The post holder will be required to oversee and deliver the proposed changes, transforming the service to ensure that is delivering a high quality, personalised service for the people of Hackney.
  • Delivering a programme of change and transformation focussed on enhancing our personalisation offer in Hackney. This will involve influencing and shaping the strategic direction of the service, including working with partners across health and social care services on key initiatives such as personal health budgets.


  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of adult social care services
  • Experience of leading a team through a significant transformation
  • An in-depth knowledge of Direct Payments, the processes and the legislation
  • guiding the practice
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of the legislation related to
  • Personalisation and Direct Payments in particular, as well as the Care Act (2014)
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent change management skills
  • Performance management and implementing local HR policies
