Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting Support Workers within Central Bedfordshire.

The purpose of the role is to co-ordinate a team response and provide care and support to children with a range of complex and challenging needs to enable them to have choice and control of their lives.

Main accountabilities

  • To work flexibly to meet the demands of the service and to support service user holidays. This will include weekend working, shift working, sleep-ins, and waking nights, school and bank holidays
  • To undertake a key-working role and attend Child In Need meetings, School reviews, Behaviour Support meetings, Looked After Children Reviews and be fully responsible for ensuring client files are regularly audited and up-dated
  • To be aware of detail of Care Plans and Risk Assessments at all times
  • To liaise with other agencies including, health, education and the social work team in order to provide a holistic approach to supporting the young people and their families
  • To participate in assessing, developing and being aware of existing client care plans implementing them when service is being provided both in normal and emergency situations
  • To be responsible for the booking in, administration, ordering and safe storage of medication the young people who access our service, this may include attending/supporting health appointments as necessary.


  • Demonstrate a good level of Education including Numeracy and Written English. Level 3 diploma for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or a commitment to achieve this within two years of commencing employment
  • Experience of supporting children and young people who have disabilities in a voluntary or professional capacity
  • Knowledge of good care practice with ability to formulate, implement and review Care Plans
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Ability to take on the role of Keyworker including administration responsibilities, report writing and attending review/meetings
  • Ability to identify, record, implement and review Risk Assessments.
