Tradewind Social Care are currently recruiting for experienced Support Workers, for a short break children's residential setting for children and young people with Autism and complex needs in West London.

To help implement objectives, goals and targets designed to achieve the maximum awareness, independence, personal development (physical, intellectual, emotional, educational and social of each child.

Main duties:

  • To ensure that all documentation relating to the child you are supporting is completed factually, concisely and to the fullest in order to demonstrate the support the child has gained throughout their visit/stay
  • Ensuring that you are working with in the best interest of the child at all times, reporting any concerns that you may encounter
  • To understand and respond to the specific needs of children and young people with Autism and associated Conditions
  • To protect the rights and interests of children and young people by treating each person as an individual, supporting their rights and respecting and promoting (where appropriate) their views and wishes
  • To respect the rights and dignity of children and young people while seeking to ensure that their behaviour does not harm themselves and other people
  • To help create a caring and supportive environment, which promotes the physical and emotional health, security, individuality and self-esteem of all children and young people
  • To establish and maintain the trust and confidence of children, young people service users and their parents/carers
  • To liaise with the management team, external professionals and agencies, families, parents/carers in providing a high quality service.
  • To report immediately any incidents, suspicion or sign of physical, emotional, psychological and verbal abuse. Any signs or witnessing neglect or harm of a child or young person as outlined in the Whistleblowing and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures
  • To help create a caring and supportive environment which promotes the physical and emotional health, security, individuality and self - esteem of all children and young people
  • To support children and young people with leisure activities

Essential Skills & Experience needed:

  • MUST have recent experience of working with children and young people aged 9-18 with Autism and complex behaviour needs in a residential setting
  • Knowledge of issues involved in the field of learning disabilities and Autism
  • Clear enhanced DBS and must be registered with the update service
  • Social Work, Diploma Level 3, NNEB or In Service training
  • Shift work temporary basis
