We have a fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader to join the Adults Integrated Services within Dorset Council.

Main Purpose

  • To Lead, manage and provide professional support to staff in a locality team in accordance with Directorate policy and practice
  • To take decisions leading to the setting of work standards for others leading to changes in procedures or practices
  • Be responsible for the outcome of relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts to ensure the effective delivery of the service.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • To take responsibility for supervision of individual staff members and for ongoing areas of team responsibility, including individual case situations
  • Operate within financial and budgetary guidelines for the delivery of care plans to meet service users/carers needs and make decisions on behalf of the Locality Manager , as requested
  • Make proposals for the improvement of Team practice and to develop systems for accurate data recording and improved performance management
  • To deputise for the Locality Manager as required
  • Work collaboratively within the Directorate, with statutory agencies, voluntary agencies and independent sector organisations and take on specific liaison or development roles on behalf of the Locality Manager
  • Take responsibility for promoting safeguarding, including involvement in related casework
  • Bring to the attention of the Locality Manager and initiate and implement plans of action in relation to staff performance, including sickness absence, staff conduct and case management
  • Take a key role in managing, developing and monitoring Team duty and referral taking systems, as relevant.


  • Social Work Degree
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all legislation relevant to the service user group/s
  • Knowledge of the Directorates policies, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of current practices and processes for managing the needs of the service user group
  • Substantial post-qualification experience
  • Experience of duty and assessment work with local authority
  • Experience of working across other relevant agencies
