Tradewind are recruiting for a Youth Offending Officer with ASSET MANAGEMENT experience in North London.

Main Duties:

To assess young people's offending behaviour and personal circumstances with a view to identifying the most appropriate service response which minimises the risk of re-offending and promotes the personal and skill development of the young person.

To prepare reports, including Pre-Sentence Reports, Crown Court Reports and Referral Order reports to a high standard ensuring that there is a thorough analysis of the offence and offender assessment has been completed.

To take responsibility for reporting any safeguarding, changes in risk levels, or child protection concerns through the line management structure and follow departmental policies and procedures.

To contribute, as required to the core tasks of the service - including duty, appropriate adults, supervision of young people and Court.

To supervise young people on Court Orders according to National and Local guidelines.

To prepare high quality court reports and other reports as required for professional meetings, in a timely fashion as agreed by line manager.

Attend court if appropriate to represent young people.

To ensure that due consideration is given to the religious persuasion, racial origin, cultural and linguistic needs of young people and their families.

To record work using client database, including ASSET Plus assessments and relevant risk and vulnerability documents.

Participate in staff meetings, team around child meetings and various other professional meetings when necessary.

Essential Skills and Experience Needed:

Knowledge of the risk and protective factors as they relate to young offenders.

Ability to manage the supervision of young people in the community according to effective practice principles and to National Standards.

Ability to make accurate assessments of the risk factors which have contributed to youth offending and to assess the issues pertaining to young people at risk of offending or in need.

High standard of literacy in relation to court reports and other official documentations.

Ability to work collaboratively with professionals in order to implement a multi-agency response to youth offending and the needs of young people.

Ability to case record using computer database.

Job Requirements:

All applicants need to be social work qualified with a current HCPC registration. You must have a minimum of 2 years experience working within Youth Offending Service and be able to supply up to 5 years referencing. An Enhanced DBS will need to be completed or if you have one on the Update Service this can be accepted.
